The Inaugural Fire & Spice New Hampshire Regional Chili Cookoff, officially sanctioned by the International Chili Society and presented by Perkins Propane, will be held Saturday September 5th, 2009 (raindate Sunday September 6th) at the Wakefield Parks and Recreation Fields in the picturesque town of Wakefield New Hampshire. All of the event proceeds benefit The Sanbornville Firemen's Association which assists the Wakefield Fire Department in purchasing updated and upgraded fire apparatus, attending training and supporting our brothers and sisters in their time of need.
Come join us in Wakefield where, starting at 9:00am, we will be stepping off our events with a Firefighter Tribute Parade. You may watch the parade along Route 153 (Wakefield Road) and park in any one of the designated parking lots. Then, follow us up to the fields for the remainder of the day. Bring the family. Our doors to the event open at 10:00am. The events of the day are as follows:
- Firefighter Tribute Parade
- Firefighter Muster Competition
- Classic Car Show
- Live Music from a variety of groups
- Kid's Area
- ICS Sanctioned Chili and Salsa Cookoff - $2 admission includes tasting cup and access to the chili arena. Winner receives $300 and trophy for first place, $200 and trophy for second place and $100 and trophy for third place.
Application fees:
Chili Entrance: ICS members $35 Non-Members $85 which includes ICS membership required for WCCC
Salsa Entrance: ICS Members $15 Non-Members $65 which includes ICS membership required for WCCC
Peoples Choice: 5 gallon minimum + $10 entrance fee. This category will not be judged by the ICS judges and will not be considered for 2009 WCCC. Remember, the more chili you bring, the more people you can "sway" to vote for yours...Feed the crowd.
Best Restaurant: 5 gallon minimum + $50 entrance fee. Again, the more you bring, the more you can prove to the crowd that your chili is the BEST. This category will not be judged by the ICS judges and will not be considered for 2009 WCCC.
Firefighters Muster: FREE!!!! for 5-7 person max per team (turnout gear required). Max of 24 teams, so register early.
Firefighter and Apparatus Parade: FREE!!!! (Class A, B or turnout gear dress) Bring your Parade Piece and show support for your fellow brothers and sisters.
Classic Car Show: FREE!!!! (fill out space reservation application and send to address below)
